Best Practices How to Manage A Project During Pandemic

How we manage your Projects during the Pandemic

Creating your Haven

As always, it's such a pleasure getting to know you and creating your beautiful new home.  Embarking on a new interior design project at any time will involve lots of moving parts that we take care of for you.

It's always our intention to not only design a beautiful and functional home for you and your family, but also create the processes and project management of your design to be as streamlined and stress-free as possible for all involved.

We are currently living through an unusual reality, with the pandemic’s elusive timeframe. Just as the global pandemic has affected every aspect of our daily lives, from work, to school, to how we entertain, I'm here to help you understand that it will also affect our design project.

However, we have discovered being proactive about this reality from the beginning of a project will make any of these challenges expected, and therefore, less stressful for us all. This is where realistic forecasting, increased communication, and a creative approach comes to play.

1. Project Communication

Currently, the pandemic is affecting design projects in two key areas:

  1. Supply chains

  2. Shipping

Supply Chains

If you're unfamiliar with this term, it simply means management of the flow of goods and services and includes all processes that transform raw materials into final products. In the interior design world, this affects everything from furniture to appliances to fixtures and finishes, and the materials used to make them. These materials have been disrupted by an unprecedented increase in demand this year, combined with the limitations placed on manufacturers attempting to meet this demand.

Shipping

Most of our products are transported by truck — a transport method that has seen a twenty-fold increase in current demand. Freight carriers are currently overwhelmed by those numbers, and also by their drivers’ increased susceptibility to Covid as they travel across the country. Keeping products local as much as possible is one way to decrease risk when we are creating your beautiful space.

Designers have also seen an increase in shipping damages recently — most likely as a result of short staffing. Know that, should any of your products arrive damaged, as always we repair or replace. But that process will likely add a delay to the completion of your project. With weekly and bi-weekly updates when needed, we keep on top of timeframes and remedy any possible issues that come up.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation as we creatively work through the pandemic together. It is our intention for everyone to be as happy and healthy as possible given the current constraints on us all.
