Scottsdale Interior Designer & Founder 

I’m Suzanne Rugg, founder and principal designer of Suzanne Rugg Interior Design, a full-service residential interior design firm based in Scottsdale, Arizona. For more than 18 years, I’ve helped clients create warm, refined homes through new construction, full-home renovations and complete furnishing projects.

My background is in art and graphic design, and I still approach a room much the same way I would a canvas: through proportion, composition, color and the relationship between each element. Years of working closely with builders, architects and trades have also taught me how important thoughtful planning, clear communication and attention to detail are to a successful project.

My style leans warm and modern, with clean lines, natural materials, layers of texture and a sense of casual elegance. I want a home to feel sophisticated without feeling formal. It should be beautiful, comfortable and personal to the people who live there.

I’m very hands-on throughout the design process, from the earliest planning decisions through furnishings, art and final installation. I love getting to know how my clients actually live, how they entertain, where they gather, what they’re drawn to and what will make their home feel distinctly theirs.

A Little More About Me

Home is important to me, too. I love to cook, and time in the kitchen at the end of the day is one of my favorite ways to unwind. Sundays often mean a big family dinner with my husband, our two young adult kids, and our extended family that lives nearby. Usually with our Cockapoo, Hippie, and our cat, Bear, somewhere underfoot.

Living in Scottsdale, I’m constantly inspired by the desert around us. I love hiking Pinnacle Peak and the nearby trails, I’m learning to golf and my husband and I are always looking for our next travel adventure. I still paint when I want a different creative outlet, and some of my favorite evenings are long dinners at a great restaurant with friends.

For me, all of those things connect back to design. The best homes aren’t just beautiful to look at; they’re places to gather, recharge and live well. They should support the way you spend your days, welcome the people you love and feel personal to you.
