We begin with a brief phone conversation so I can learn about your home, the scope of the project, your timing and what you hope to accomplish. It also gives us a chance to make sure we’re a good fit before moving forward.

During your consultation, we’ll walk through your home or review your plans together and talk through your vision, priorities and any decisions that need clarity. I’ll offer professional recommendations for layout, materials, furnishings and overall direction. We’ll also discuss the anticipated level of investment and where it makes sense to prioritize.

Following the consultation, I prepare a tailored proposal outlining the scope of work, design services, anticipated timeline and design fee.

Once the proposal is approved, the design begins to take shape through floor plans, elevations, materials, finishes, furnishings, lighting and custom details. Each selection is considered in relation to the home as a whole.

I present the complete design so you can see how the spaces work together. We review layouts, finishes, furnishings and custom details, then refine anything needed before final approval.

Once selections are approved, my team manages purchasing, order tracking and receiving while I coordinate with your builder, contractor and trades to help keep the design vision on track.

This is where your home comes together. Furniture, lighting, window treatments, artwork and accessories are installed and styled according to the overall design plan.

Your home is complete, polished and ready to live in. With your permission, we arrange professional photography to capture the finished project before leaving you to enjoy your new spaces.

What does full-service interior design include?
Full-service interior design means I’m involved in the project from the early planning stages through final installation. Depending on the scope, this can include space planning, interior architectural details, cabinetry and millwork, materials and finishes, lighting, furnishings, window treatments, art, procurement and final styling. The goal is to consider the home as a whole so every decision feels connected.
What types of projects do you take on?
I specialize in new construction, substantial full-home renovations and complete furnishing projects. My work is best suited to clients looking for a meaningful and comprehensive design approach.
When should I involve an interior designer in a new build or major renovation?
As early as possible. Bringing me into the project during architectural planning allows us to consider space planning, cabinetry, lighting, finishes and furnishings before construction decisions are finalized. Early collaboration with your architect and builder helps create a more cohesive home and reduces the need to revisit decisions later.
Do you work with second-home owners and clients who live outside Arizona?
Yes. Many of my clients are designing, renovating or furnishing an Arizona home while living elsewhere. I manage the design locally, coordinate with builders and trades and keep you informed throughout the process, making it possible to move the project forward even when you aren’t in Arizona full-time.
What areas do you serve?
Suzanne Rugg Interior Design is based in Scottsdale and works throughout Paradise Valley, Desert Mountain and select communities across the greater Phoenix area. Projects outside the immediate area may also be considered depending on scope.
