If you haven’t met me yet, you may not realize I have a huge passion for kitchen design! Yes, how the cabinets are put together, and function properly so that the dishwasher doesn’t pull out into a side cabinet handle, or making sure you don’t have to walk what seems like 100 yards from the refrigerator to the microwave - all important functional needs. But what I really love about kitchen design is pulling together your entire design aesthetic; from layout, to flooring, to cabinet style, to hard surface finish colors, to hardware, to lighting, and THEN the fun of appliance needs, window coverings and furnishings! Kitchen design, while one of your home’s most functional spaces, can also be the most dynamic and interesting space in your house. And why not make sure it is, since the heart of the home is also most often the most used space in the home?

So, you feel your kitchen doesn't showcase your ideal lifestyle, while remaining relaxed for both you, your family, and your guests. The most common problem I run into is when a client just doesn’t have the time to figure out which material patterns look good together or how to layout their new kitchen so that it flows with the rest of their home.

I’ll take you through the initial process of a kitchen design, so you will understand what to expect from the outcome of the project.

Step 1: Initial Discovery & Consultation

The first step is an in-home consultation, where I guide you through a review of your home and your kitchen design wishes. I offer recommendations and ideas, and discuss the types of finishes and colors for the materials to complete your project. I help you with ideas for layout, coming up with a comfortable budget, and set a plan and priorities for moving forward. I’ll also take photos of your existing space, or view the space plan if you’re building new. I then send you a detailed proposal of work to be done and expected design costs.

Step 2: Design & Project Plan

Once we establish an overview of your design and costs associated, I prepare a presentation utilizing your design wishes, and offer my expertise to add function, style and a little bit (or a lot) of “WOW.” Once your design is complete, we will consult with contractors on pricing and timing (this is the only way to get apples to apples bids on your project).

Step 3: Approval & Project Launch

Once you approve our proposal, we set timing to complete the design (usually a few weeks depending on scope). We create renderings and material specs, collect samples and colors of the materials we propose, and present to you the entire design with physical samples and renderings. I make sure that you will be able to imagine this beautiful new space in your home!

Step 4: Project Management

If you choose our design oversight, we schedule time to meet with the contractors and trades in your home, explain the design in entirety including a materials schedule and necessary drawings for the contractor or builder. We then offer on-site visits, and open communication with the builder in order for your project to run smoothly, and your design details to come to fruition without compromise.

Step 5: Kitchen Installation

Once the cabinets and hard surfaces are installed, the lighting, fixtures and appliances are equipped, and the hardware placed, I will then swoop in to accessorize and furnish to finish the design of the space. It will be ready completely for you to walk in the door and enjoy with your family!

Your final reveal includes the entire space accessorized and furnished, photographed for our records, and ready for you to enjoy with your family, friends, and entertaining!
