This Desert Mountain second home was designed as a warm, relaxed retreat for a couple who wanted their home to feel elevated but easy to live in—a place to recharge on quiet weekends and gather with children, grandchildren and friends over long dinners and wine.

Taking cues from the desert, I kept the palette warm and restrained, layering light wood, soft neutrals, natural stone and black and brass accents for contrast. In the kitchen, light wood cabinetry is paired with a crisp white perimeter, a sculptural matte-black hood and open shelving that keeps the space feeling airy and collected. The dining area brings together a grounded dark table, soft upholstered seating and a statement chandelier beneath the wood ceiling.

The custom kitchen was recognized with a Gold Award in the 46th Annual Qualified Remodeler Master Design Awards, a national competition celebrating excellence in residential remodeling.

Throughout the home, custom storage, original art, layered textiles and natural finishes add warmth and personality without feeling overdone. The result is a home that feels polished, comfortable and ready for both everyday living and the people they love to bring together.
