3 Easy Tips to Simplify Hosting with Design & Organization
Do you enjoy entertaining friends and family but get overwhelmed by all the prep? It doesn’t have to be that way! It’s possible to savor the time with your guests without all the stress.
With a little bit of imagination and advanced planning, you can elevate your home from practical daily use to a wow and welcoming space for your special guests.
Whether inviting neighbors for a casual dinner or larger groups for special holiday events - it’s all in the details! Today, I’m sharing my top 3 tips for simple hosting to help you get started...
1. Develop a Seating Plan
Having a table leaf extension (or two, or three) can quickly transform your daily dining table into a luxurious dining space!
If space is tight, we recommend using a table with 6 seats for daily use and adding the leaf extensions to seat up to 12 guests comfortably. To accommodate the extra length, angle the table to allow additional elbow room.
Also, utilize existing surfaces for double duty, such as ottomans topped with extended trays, or add a little glitz by topping a coffee table with a festive tablecloth.
2. Get Creative with Stylish Storage Solutions
Consider investing in a sideboard with storage or a beautiful display case in your home. They not only add visual interest and instant cachet, but they also provide chic and easily accessible storage for special-event items such as linens, serving ware, candles, and centerpieces. Planning a kitchen reno? Here are 3 ways to expand storage.
3. Store Seasonal Decor Strategically
Who doesn’t look forward to breaking out seasonal decor every year? It’s super festive and can instantly transform the feel in your home.
Incorporate some of these tips to efficiently organize your decor:
Separate decor by holiday in labeled clear storage bins.
Use coat hangers to hang and store wreaths, so they keep their shape.
Keep your cords tangle-free by pulling them through empty paper towel rolls.
For small decor items, such as ornaments or trinkets, utilize closet hanging door storage or store them in egg cartons to keep them tangle-free and protected.
